A Free Way to Bring the Channel Tunnel into the Classroom
The Channel Tunnel is one of the more accessible big engineering stories for students. It links physical geography (how you tunnel under a sea), human geography (trade, transport and connections between countries) and a bit of genuine wonder at the scale of the thing. This pack gives teachers an easy, ready-made way into that topic, whether or not a trip to France is actually on the calendar this year.
It also works nicely as a warm-up if you are planning a school trip to France and are looking at LeShuttle as the crossing. Their school coach groups use a simplified border process agreed with French authorities, so the lead teacher makes an on-arrival declaration covering the group rather than submitting passenger lists in advance, and the crossing itself takes around 35 minutes from Folkestone to Calais.

Good to Know if You’re Booking a Crossing
If a trip to France is on the cards, LeShuttle’s school coach process is designed to keep things simple on the day. Coaches need to be registered on official UK school registers, and operators notify LeShuttle at least three days before travel and display a School Group Coach Sign so the group is easy to identify at the terminal. LeShuttle also positions itself as the more environmentally friendly way to cross, running on largely electric rail traction.
