About Bath World Heritage Site.

Matilda The Musical Logo

The City of Bath was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1987. The entire city is covered by the status, and the former municipal city boundary forms the site boundary.

Bath is one of only a handful of city-wide World Heritage Sites.

World Heritage Sites are places of global significance, telling the story of our cultural evolution and natural beauty. Their conservation for the appreciation and education of future generations is vital.
