About

Experience a practical interactive STEM session related to forces and air resistance.

Working scientifically in ‘Engineering teams’ groups will explore the natural phenomena of air resistance. This 45-minute session includes creating a fair test using KNEX models;’ measuring timings; entering data; finding the mean and forming conclusions from the test.

This workshop uncovers the rich connections between maths, science, technology and computing in a hugely practical way. Workshop results can be printed for the school.

Learning Objectives:

  • Create and conduct a fair test
  • Use equipment to measure time, calculate mean and enter data
  • Take accurate measurements using standard units
  • Report on findings from enquiries
  • Identify the relationship between air resistance and speed
