About

A light-hearted introduction to the New Horizons mission that flew past Pluto in July 2015 after an epic 9.5-year journey.

New Horizons is now continuing through the Kuiper Belt. A smaller, more primitive Kuiper Belt Object than Pluto has been targeted for a rendezvous in 2018 or 2019.

These encounters have made possible unprecedented close-up views of these distant worlds, providing valuable insights into the formation of our Solar System.
