About.

Discover Roald Dahl’s re-drafting process with examples from the archive throughout this workshop, including characters from the Chocolate Factory that you won’t have met before. Students will complete some hands-on editing activities, gobblefunk around with words like the BFG and hunt around the Museum for re-drafting examples from the master storyteller. Put all you’ve learnt into practice as you become an editor: turn Roald Dahl’s text into your own and send your feedback!

All of the Roald Dahl Museums archive-based workshops use examples from their collection of Roald Dahl’s drafts, letters and notebooks that your group won’t see elsewhere in the Museum. You will visit the galleries but this is for a limited time and the focus of your session will be in their learning space.

You can combine all their workshops with their self-led Village Trail which will allow you to explore Great Missenden and its connections with Roald Dahl.

About Roald Dahl Museum.

Matilda The Musical Logo

The Roald Dahl Museum is the perfect place to see the writing process in action by one of its masters. Students will discover how they can use the same techniques themselves and find out more about Roald Dahl’s life while exploring their fun, interactive galleries in one of their facilitated workshops.

Come face-to-face with Fantastic Mr Fox, measure up to your Roald Dahl heroes, pull a power pose next to Matilda and discover Roald Dahl’s famous Writing Hut – the birthplace of your favourite characters – at the Museum of the World’s No.1 Storyteller.

The aim is for your visit to be HANDS-ON, INVESTIGATIVE and EXCITING. Their schools’ programme is delivered by an experienced Learning Team. All of their team hold an Enhanced DBS clearance and regularly review and update their professional skills.

They offer two types of workshops – galleries-based 90 minute workshops, or archive-based 180 minute workshops. Both types are based around a key literacy area which is the focus throughout your visit.
