Your students will experience what it is like to be processed into prison.

Handing over their belongings they will change into a prison order orange jumpsuit (to be worn over their normal clothes).

This is an additional experience to be added to a school trip to Shepton Mallet Prison.

About Shepton Mallet Prison.

Shepton Mallet Prison was built in 1625 and closed in 2013, making it the country’s oldest prison. With over 400 years of history behind its high walls, Shepton Mallet Prison is a must-see heritage site.

Many of their current educational visits come to discover more about crime and punishment through the ages, Victorian History, capital punishment, rehabilitation and the effects of crime on the victims and families. As the prison dates back to 1793 it is also frequently visited by students of Architecture, RE and Geography.

All of their tours and educational visits can be adapted according to your needs; workshops can be included along with escape rooms and a fully immersive ‘prisoner experience’.
