National Museums Liverpool’s interactive virtual classroom workshops – led by museum experts – will bring learning to life and inspire the imaginations of your students by engaging them in activities based on real artefacts and objects.

Using feedback from teachers, National Museums Liverpool has designed two curriculum-linked virtual workshops for Key Stages 1-2:

Each booking is complemented by a suite of downloadable lesson plans, resources and activities that you can use before and after your session, to get the most out of this exciting learning experience.

National Museums Liverpool’s virtual classrooms are delivered via Microsoft Teams and last 50 minutes each, with capacity for up to 32 students.

National Museums Liverpool’s Ancient Egypt: Marvelous Mummification Virtual Classroom

Explore Ancient Egypt with this virtual workshop from National Museums Liverpool.

Led by an expert from the World Museum, students will explore the various stages of the Ancient Egyptian preservation process giving them an understanding of cultures, history and science whilst developing core skills such as collaboration and communication.

The aim of this workshop is for students to come away with knowledge of the entire mummification process and an insight into the anatomy of the body through assisting in the ‘mummification’ and gain insights into the ancient Egyptian understanding of body and spirit.

National Museums Liverpool’s The Art of Wellbeing Virtual Classroom

Are you looking for a session that supports your students’ wellbeing and encourages creativity? Walker Art Gallery’s Art of Wellbeing workshop has been designed to provide a safe and fun environment to introduce students to mental wellbeing and self-care.

Walker Art Gallery use artworks from their collection as inspiration and provide a space to discuss emotions, mental health and the positive effect that working creatively can have. They use a blend of creative activities and practical exercises to give students the opportunity to create something they are proud of and learn transferable relaxation skills.

Their aim is to encourage students to take their first step in creating a self-care toolkit in an inspiring, creative session which can be continued at school with their pre and post-session activities.
