The Voyage of the Golden Hinde is their most popular programme for KS1/2.
Their costumed educators bring history to life as students are immersed in the unique environment of our amazing galleon.
Students will also be provided with their pre and post-visit resources, designed to encourage them to respond critically and creatively to get the most out of their visit.
Learning Objectives
- To find out about the history of Francis Drake and his 1577-80 circumnavigation of the world.
- To understand day-to-day life on an Elizabethan ship and how it differs from their
own experiences. - To develop skills of comparison, enquiry and communication.
- To develop creative writing and drawing skills.
About The Golden Hinde
A full-scale and fully operational replica of Francis Drake’s iconic ship, The Golden Hinde is the perfect place to visit for anyone studying the Elizabethans, pirates or explorers.
Designed to complement the national curriculum, their hands-on educational programmes give students a sense of the lived experience of 16th-century mariners in order to enrich their understanding of key historical events. Raise the anchor, fire the cannons and discover what life was truly like for Elizabethan seafarers.
