Key Info

This workshop will describe the evolution of rugby apparel from the 1840s to the present. Themes will include: an introduction to a range of textiles and fabrics, the changing culture of the sport, and the lifestyle and leisure of Victorian schoolchildren.

In this museum led workshop students will learn how the craftwork, design and materials, used in the production of rugby playing apparatus, have continually changed to reflect the times. Students will also gain an insight into the history and evolution of Rugby football and how players have changed over time.

Educational groups are invited to explore the hallowed grounds of Twickenham Stadium with a rugby expert, journey through rugby history in the World Rugby Museum, and experience hands-on learning in an interactive workshop.

From primary schools to university groups, the World Rugby Museum has a diverse, award-winning educational programme to accommodate all groups. Educational sessions are available from booking onto the stadium tour. Students will have a practical learning experience or the opportunity to discuss the ins and outs of rugby with a professional in the field at Twickenham Stadium.
