About
Birmingham Hippodrome is one of the UK’s busiest and most vibrant arts venues. With a rich history spanning over 125 years, it brings world-class musicals, large-scale ballet and opera, drama and family productions to the heart of Birmingham.
As an independent charity welcoming over 600,000 visitors a year, the Hippodrome works with internationally renowned producers including Cameron Mackintosh, Andrew Lloyd Webber, Disney and Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures, bringing the biggest touring productions to Birmingham.
It is also home to Birmingham Royal Ballet and the largest pantomime outside of London, which welcomes over 100,000 people every year.
In 2023, the Hippodrome launched the UK’s first New Musical Theatre department based outside of London. Under its ‘My First Musical’ brand, it creates new musicals for children aged 3+, including The Jingleclaw and No Such Thing As Wolves.
