About The Lehman Trilogy

Directed by Academy Award®, Tony Award® and Golden Globe winner Sam Mendes, The Lehman Trilogy is the story of a family and a company that changed the world.

Starring Michael Balogun, Hadley Fraser and Nigel Lindsay as the Lehman brothers, their sons and grandsons, the play charts the humble beginnings, outrageous successes, and spectacular collapse of the Lehman Brothers banking empire.

On a cold September morning in 1844, a young man from Bavaria stands on a New York dockside dreaming of a new life in the new world. He is joined by his two brothers, and an American epic begins. 163 years later, the firm they establish – Lehman Brothers – spectacularly collapses into bankruptcy, triggering the largest financial crisis in history.

Spanning an epic 163 years of history in an extraordinary feat of storytelling, the production has wide-ranging themes including family, immigration, the American Dream and capitalism. With excellent production values, award-winning set and lighting design, and a live piano score, The Lehman Trilogy is an extraordinary live theatre experience for both students and teachers.

This production features flashing lights and some video effects that may cause dizziness. There will be instances of total darkness (lasting 15 seconds) and gunshot sound effects. The production contains moments and themes that some people may find distressing. This includes the non-graphic depiction of a suicide and mentions of suicide. There is also infrequent mention of death, war and slavery. For further information please contact the Gillian Lynne Box Office.
