About.

Inspired by Matilda The Musical, these resources give schools insight into the process of staging this award-winning musical.

With teacher packs, films and online activities, this programme of work aims to give young people the inspiration, confidence, and skills to develop their writing.

In writing Matilda The Musical Dennis Kelly and Tim Minchin created new characters, stories, and songs into Roald Dahl’s novel of Matilda.

In this resource, the films give insights into how the musical was created and show how the storylines differ between the novel and musical. Dennis, Tim and Lauren, the original Miss Honey, also talk about how they brought these characters to life for the stage.

The teacher resource pack gives activities to start students off on the scriptwriting journey. Students have a chance to start creating characters for their scripts and songs by taking a spin on the character generator.

Use this versatile resource as an introduction for students in Upper Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3. Activities are also suitable for more advanced study with GSCE and A-Level students.
