Take Your Seats for One Man’s Vision of the NHS

After a highly praised debut, Nye featuring Michael Sheen will be streaming for free on YouTube from 7 pm GMT on November 7 through November 11 only.

The stream will include Audio Description, British Sign Language, and Welsh Subtitles.

From his roots in the coalfields to his leading role in creating the NHS, Aneurin “Nye” Bevan remains a pivotal figure in British history—often celebrated as the most influential politician who never became Prime Minister.

As Nye faces mortality, he’s pulled into a mind-bending journey through his life: from his working-class childhood and days in the mines to fierce debates in Parliament and clashes with Churchill. This journey is an epic Welsh fantasia, capturing the spirit of a visionary who reshaped Britain’s welfare state.

Michael Sheen (Under Milk Wood) stars as Nye Bevan in this extraordinary and surreal exploration of his life and legacy, written by Tim Price (Teh Internet is Serious Business) and directed by Rufus Norris (Small Island).

Performed February 24 to May 11, 2024, at the Olivier Theatre.
