About.

Encountering rare items on display in their Treasures of the British Library gallery alongside digitised collection items in their Learning Centre, students will develop confidence in interpreting sacred texts and uncovering the many roles they play in religion.

Celebrating texts, manuscripts and sound recordings from nine religions, spanning over 1000 years, this session supports learners in understanding the concept of a sacred text and the deep connections and common threads between those from different faiths.

Through a range of activities, students will encounter a book written entirely in gold, a text written only in pictures, the prayer book of an Indian princess and one of the earliest Qur’ans in the world.
