The Walker Art Gallery’s History Through Art Workshop
Key Info
Choose one history topic – the medieval church or Tudors and the Reformation – for this fascinating workshop, which is designed to encourage students to develop their knowledge of the past through close examination of artwork and resources at the Walker Art Gallery.
An experienced staff member will introduce the masterpieces of the Walker Art Gallery’s collection and encourage students to place artwork into the context of events that shaped the landscape of the 2nd millennium – and continue to affect our lives today.
Together they will also explore the significance of such events in our lives today. The session supports students to develop their visual literacy and the ability to recognise symbolism in art.
This workshop is an ideal accompaniment to any key stage 3 curriculum including medieval or Tudor topics, and an excellent opportunity for learning outside of the classroom.
When booking, In the ‘other’ information box please state if you are requesting the medieval church workshop or the Tudors and the Reformation workshop.
