See what our teachers said
“It was a wonderful production! The moment I entered the theatre we were welcomed by the FoH. The production was electrifying, it’s a great example of how high calibre storytelling and diversity and inclusion go hand, I think a lot of schools should take their young people to see Hamilton, particularly those socioeconomically deprived backgrounds or do not have direct connections to theatre, it will show them what is possible”
Drama Teacher, Lighthouse School of Speech, Drama and Communication
“I thoroughly enjoyed the show, especially the choreography, the clean execution and intricacies. I enjoyed the songs, especially those by Eliza and the King. I particularly liked the use of stage and how the background actors were consistently present.”
Haberdashers’ Borough Academy
“Its a wonderful, historically sung rap musical, that’s great for the entire curriculum. Especially for students studying the American revolution and drama/dance/music students looking at storytelling through song, concepts, conventions and skills.”
Head of Drama, Bishop Challoner Boys’ School
“Brilliant show. Inclusive, diverse, exciting, contemporary and educational!”
Drama Teacher, Coombe Girls’ School
“I thought Hamilton was absolutely FANTASTIC! It was wonderful to see such a modern, fresh take on musical theatre. The choreography, music and acting was so professional, it felt like watching a movie. Best thing I’ve seen in theatres for a long time.”
Josephine Wilson, Drama Teacher, Lighthouse School of Speech, Drama and Communication
“It was an outstanding production with great music and choreography, with very clever storytelling.”
Grey Court School
“Excellent, funny, enjoyable and full of life. The show did not disappoint and gives a great insight into the world of Alexander Hamilton.”
Drama Teacher, Colfe’s School
“Hamilton was incredible. I was sat in awe throughout the entire performance. Amazing”
Creative Arts Teacher, Coombe Wood School
“Outstanding ensemble work; excellent performance from actors playing Alexander Hamilton and Eliza.”
Alexandra Brailsford, Head of Drama, Greenshaw High School
“I wasn’t aware of Alexander Hamilton’s story and was intrigued to have history presented in such a modern and interesting way! I found I missed a few of the details in the first half due to the fast pace of the dialogue but I was moved to tears on a few occasions and found myself throughly engaged throughout!”
Hannah Wing, Teacher of Film & TV, The London Screen Academy
“Excellent show, top class acting singing and movement. Storytelling and writing were wonderful!”
Head of Drama, The Henrietta Barnett School
“It was exceptional. I feel so lucky to have seen it. The production was slick, impressive and unique and the writing, phenomenal. The actors/performers were thoroughly engaging and impressive and the tone was at times celebratory and dynamic, but also tender and full of suspense. I cannot recommend this production enough. Thank you for the opportunity.”
Head of Drama, Highgate Wood Secondary School
“Amazing. A real show-stopper!”
Drama Teacher, Ricards Lodge High School
“Hamilton is of those shows that doesn’t come around very often. A powerful story, genius writing and score and a unique style of choreography. Despite having seen the live recorded production on Disney several times I was dubious about whether the cast would match up to my expectations but I needn’t have worried – they were insanely talented and captivating.”
Alev Jemal, Head of Drama, Connaught School for Girls
“An outstanding production. Aside from the amazing music, which students know and love, the production itself is fantastic – the choreography and direction is incredible, as fast and as interesting as the accompanying score, with a jaw-droppingly talented ensemble. Great use of a seemingly simplistic stage space, with really innovative lighting and costume design to lift the show to something extraordinary.”
Alex Cooper, Director of Drama, Radnor House School
“An incredible show and production!”
Orchard Park High School
“Amazing! Brilliant cast. Extremely talented singers and stage presence. Very clear message for American history! Suitable for GCSE and A-level pupils.”
Ebony Page, Second in charge of Humanities, King Henry School
“It is fantastic the staging is amazing, it’s hard to even remember how many clever moments of theatre there were on the stage! But moments like the way the duels are staged (slow motion bullets, the narration rather than dialogue, the sudden use of pace changes) The movement of the ensemble is excellent too.
The performers are great examples of acting and singing and the quality of the lyrics and musical composition is first rate!
Moreover, it’s wonderful that students of colour can see people like themselves on stage.”
Drama Teacher, Bexley Grammar School
“I thought it was excellent. Visually stunning – the energy was incredible. The presentation of the historical facts was engaging and emotive. Definitely a show I would recommend to colleagues and consider for the future.”
Head of Prep Drama, Notre Dame School
“I thought the show was amazing – I can see this being very popular with our students and we are now in the process of trying to arrange a school visit to see the show. I loved the messaging of the show and the performance aspects were incredibly impressive. This is a show that allows everyone to feel seen and to see themselves on the stage, which is so important.”
Head of Drama, Lady Margaret School
“Last nights performance was really inspiring, as a theatre educator. Whilst the story of Alexander Hamilton may not be as relevant to British secondary school students, the themes of immigration, following your dreams and respectability found within Hamilton certainly make it a musical to promote. I was emotionally invested in the performance from the first note, enjoying the ups and of Hamilton’s life. Thoroughly enjoyable!”
Laura Armstrong, Head of Performing Arts, The Beaconsfield School
“We loved the staging, choreography and acting and had a great evening. Unfortunately though, we couldn’t always clearly hear the lyrics being sung, which was a shame as meant we missed parts of the story. At the beginning it seemed the orchestra were too loud in comparison to the singing but then some of it was that the songs are so quick that is difficult to get clear diction.”
Sarah Grimshaw, Head of Drama, Broomwood Hall School
