The theatre education charity, Mousetrap Theatre Projects, has launched Every Home A Theatre encouraging people of all ages to get creative and make their own theatre-based fun.
Based in the heart of the West End, Mousetrap Theatre Projects is a theatre education charity dedicated to enriching the lives of young people. The charity gives young people the opportunity to enjoy, learn and benefit from seeing live theatre, irrespective of their cultural, social or economic background. Each year, they run a range of subsidised theatregoing programmes and Creative Learning projects which help to make London’s incredible theatre scene accessible to young people, low-income families, mainstream and SEND state schools, and those with additional needs.
They’ll be setting a new creative challenge on a different theme each week to explore different genres, techniques and more. The challenges will be simple and suitable for all ages and levels of experience – no skills required.
Every Home A Theatre kicked off this week with a challenge to create a fun theatre-inspired video clip in whatever genre or style you like. The challenge is made to bring people together, with participants encouraged to involve at least one other member of their household.
Entries must be at least 30 seconds long, and suggestions include performing a dramatic Shakespeare speech, gathering the family to sing of your favourite musical songs or devising a silly comedy sketch. To get involved, film and upload your video using the hashtag #EveryHomeATheatre on Instagram or Twitter.
Their favourite creative responses will be in with a chance of winning 4 tickets to a West End show (as soon as they re-open!)
So get your thinking caps on and get creative! You can follow the current entries on Twitter using the hashtag #EveryHomeATheatre and see more information on the initiative and Mousetrap’s work here.
