Tune in to a special Olivier Awards with Mastercard programme celebrating some of the award’s greatest moments.
Following the cancellation of this year’s Olivier Awards, ITV will broadcast a special programme on Sunday 5 April at 10:15pm.
The hour-long special ‘Olivier Awards – Greatest Moments’ will look back at the awards from the past ten years. The celebration, hosted by Jason Manford, will show some of the best footage of performances and speeches. The line-up includes Olivier award-winning Dreamgirls, Hamilton, The Book Of Mormon, Disney’s The Lion King and the RSC’s Matilda The Musical.
The official radio partner Magic Radio will broadcast a special programme from 6pm to 8pm on the same evening, also celebrating the best Olivier Awards moments. The broadcast accompanies a weekend of shows on Magic’s new musical theatre station Magic at the Musicals.
The Olivier Awards, due to take place on the same night, celebrates the best of British theatre. The new musical, & Juliet, led the field with nine nominations. The other stand out musicals of this year was Fiddler on the Roof and the Broadway transfer of Dear Evan Hansen, receiving eight and seven nominations respectively.
Due to the current climate, the official award ceremony has been postponed until the Autumn. A 2020 version of the awards will still take place, congratulating winners in a special event this autumn. However, due to the current climate, the date, location and schedule are still TBC.
Tune in this Sunday from 6pm on Magic Radio and 10:15pm on ITV to celebrate British theatre at its best.
