Beat Goes On BBC Ten Pieces Workshop

The BBC’s Ten Pieces initiative aims to open up the world of classical music to children and inspire them to develop their own creative responses to ten pieces of music through composition, dance or digital art.

Beat Goes On is proud to be a BBC Ten Pieces Champion and to provide workshops and CPD that help schools and teachers to make the most of this inspiring repertoire.

Their workshops and CPD programmes for BBC Ten Pieces include:

– Body percussion workshop based on Anna Meredith’s ‘Connect It’
– Body percussion & Latin percussion workshops based on ‘Mambo’ from Bernstein’s ‘West Side Story’
– Our BBC Ten Pieces workshops will allow pupils to explore and develop performance and composition skills.

These workshops are ideal for KS2-4, and have been developed with primary and secondary music teachers. They can easily be incorporated into schemes of work for the new GCSE music specifications.

Dance Days’ Flamenco Dance Workshop

Enrich your Spanish Days, European Day of Languages and National Day of Spain events and celebrations.

During this Flamenco dance workshop, your pupils will learn and create their own Flamenco dance routine.

They’ll kick off each session with some fast facts and challenger questions to help set the scene. The routine is broken down into manageable sections with the support of an experienced dance teacher who will help your pupils shine outside of the classroom.

Suitable for 2 to 4 classes during a half day or up to 8 classes during a full day.

Disney’s Beauty and the Beast’s Polish your Acting Skills Workshop

Explore the world inside the castle as your students take the roles of the enchanted objects.

In this engaging workshop you will use scenes from the script to explore intention, objective and characterisation techniques. Investigate how actors use voice and movement to tell a story and develop your own take on characters.

Disney’s FROZEN Workshop

Led by specifically trained Disney teaching artists, workshops can be tailored to your group’s needs and give your students the rare opportunity to perform scenes, songs and dances from the FROZEN whilst developing core skills such as communication and team building in a unique and creative way.

Workshops cost £14 per student on top of the ticket price and last 90 minutes. In London, they take place in a venue near the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. They are suitable for those aged 7 and up; the minimum group size is 20.

MAMMA MIA! Education Workshop

A workshop in London that will engage any student in the smash hit production MAMMA MIA!.

Discover your inner disco diva in an action packed recreation of some of the highlights of the smash hit musical that brings the student closer to the themes and exuberance of the production.

The Auckland Projects’ Let’s Go To The Castle! workshop

What is it like to visit a castle? Take part in range of themed, age appropriate activities, from dancing in the Throne Room and watching their Pollard and the Boar puppet show, to sitting round the Bishop’s dining table and creating your own boar-themed craft to take home.

Please note prices include space for lunch, free entry for teachers and all materials and resources. Wicked’s Musical Theatre Workshop

The two-hour Wicked Musical Theatre Workshop is designed to introduce students to the many multi-layered performance techniques crucial to performing in the West End.

This workshop develops participants’ understanding of performing in musical theatre and the combined skills of acting, singing and dancing.

Ideal for KS3-KS5 and those studying at colleges or university courses.

World Museum’s Bees dance workshop with Flux

How many species of bee exist? What are their habitats? Which have the most positive impact on our environment? And how can humans help them survive?

This workshop, led by FLUX, will immerse children in learning about science through music and art, starting with a visit to Bees: A Story of Survival, our exhibition at World Museum.

The exhibition Bees: A Story Of Survival is designed by artist Wolfgang Buttress, famous for his multi-sensory artworks inspired by our evolving relationship with the natural world. It celebrates the diversity and beauty of bees, their fascinating behaviour and how vital they are for allowing ecosystems to function.

After a tour of the exhibition, children will take part in a dance workshop facilitated by the award-winning FLUX education consultancy, specialising in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths) creative education. FLUX will present key scientific concepts and language and promote the benefits of dance and nature for our health and wellbeing.

The workshop will be supported by a downloadable resource that links to the concepts included in the exhibition.

Workshops are available between 26 November and 6 December 2024
