About

Discover which ride at Paultons Park has the fastest average speed!

Using accurate track lengths and data, students measure ride times to calculate and compare average speeds. In this maths-driven workshop, students will interpret distance-time graphs and link them to corresponding rides, before applying their compound measures knowledge to problem-solve real-life scenarios at the park.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understanding that speed is a compound measure derived from distance and time, and use suitable units to measuring each variable
  • Use the SDT formula to calculate and compare average speeds of rides
  • Explore the maximum speeds and safety measures in place
  • Interpret distance-time graphs of rides at the park
  • Solve real life worded problems involving speed, distance and time
